ABSTRACT

Around the globe, many countries enjoy sustained high levels of food security. Not all of them are well endowed with natural resources; some of them actually have very limited natural resources. Some of them were also very poor at the time that World War II ended. How then could they have achieved and sustained their high level of food security? Insights into and revelations of their food security practices could be invaluable in helping to improve food security elsewhere. This chapter looks into the lessons and experiences of countries that have achieved high level of food security, including Israel, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore and South Korea.
