ABSTRACT

This chapter will discuss the historical entry of women into other criminal justice professions, such as those working in academia and research agencies, and the current trends in employment, and provide an overview of challenges that they commonly face on the job. A significant portion of the chapter will devote attention to presenting their own narrative experiences in their career trajectory, including the obstacles they faced, how they overcame challenges, and recommendations for future female criminal justice leaders. Regional differences as well as the intersectionality of gender and race in their experiences will be highlighted throughout the chapter.
