ABSTRACT

ART. m.-THE MEDICAL STUDENTS AT ZURICH. IT is now ten years since the gates of Zurich University opened to women, and since that time thirteen ladies have received degrees as Doctor of Medicine, Surgery, and Midwifery (six Russians, two English, two Germans, one Scotch, one American, and one Swiss). Professor Hermann has lately taken occasion to review the long struggle on the one side and the professors and lady students on the other. He appears to hint at some future change in the regulations of the lmiversity with respect to the female students, but affirms that the thirteen ladies who have received degrees have showed an undoubted vocation for the profession, and that he and the other professors will gladly welcome all young women who come with like preparation and earnes~ ness.
