ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book begins with a quote by Joseph Campbell that our modern abandonment of hero mythology has led to an epidemic of anxiety. Campbell observed that “the ancient myths were designed to harmonize the mind and the body.” The book explores specific impacts that using the hero’s journey as a unique technique may have on improving health status. It discusses how the application of heroism research to law clinic and curriculum reform may better prepare students for what is widely regarded as a highly challenging profession. The book describes the journey of the heroic learner and does so in a way that sheds important light on the obstacles in this process. It explores the darker aspects of heroism, examining how the mantle of heroism can be used as a form of false advertising.
