ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in this book. This book provides support to organizations faced with interconnected, accelerated and discontinuous change. The case study describes Eurotech SpA, an innovative and future-oriented Italian ICT company based in Amaro (Udine), as an example of how it is possible to undertake a journey into the complexity of the future. Organization and management are the two pillars of foresight. Corporate Foresight has a strategic value in that it enables organizations to innovate, to identify opportunities and to respond to the latent vulnerabilities of the environment. It is a powerful tool, which can help companies to get ready for a future which is increasingly unpredictable, near and singular. For the management, the book proposes the implementation of a methodology called "future coverage approach", which should enable companies to measure and verify the consistency of trends, strategic vision and offered products.
