ABSTRACT

SUMMARY-1986 In spite of working in a more violent environment, it is evident that changes in patterns of involvement and communication, increased regularity of procedures have reduced the amount of dissatisfaction correctional officers experience with their work. Though in 1976 officers were aware and critical of the “increasing liberalization” of the early 1970s, by 1986, their dissatisfaction has turned to acceptance as more and more changes (especially those relating to court and DOC mandated procedures) become institutionalized parts of their environment.
