In the preliminary survey officers were also asked to indicate what events or incidents which occurred between 1976 and 1986 had the greatest impact on what officers think or feel about their work. Though most officers referred to developing conditions rather than events or incidents, the information shows the entrance of new circumstances into correctional officer consciousness.
