At her first session, Rosalia Cruz filled out the patient information sheet for me to bill her insurance company for sessions on her husband’s plan and I noticed, reviewing the line items, that she had kept her maiden name. I said right out loud that I found that interesting. “Yeah, well,” she said, “you got my number right. I’m not like most Latinas you have met. You’ll see…I’m different. I’m very independent.” 1
