ABSTRACT

Some common areas of variance occur within the topics of technology, grading, and even student recess time. This chapter includes real narratives from real educators, students, and parents so educators could elaborate more on the discussion of how stories can help educators to tackle instructionally related topical areas. There is an ongoing discourse and debate about the necessity of having digital classrooms versus using traditional methods. The problem with variance, however, is that when the redundant curriculum exists, curbside, and other, more innovative methods for teaching and learning take over, traditional methods might disengage students. While the chapter is devoted to initiating reflection on topics dealing with educational variance, it provides ways that narratives can offer new pathways for discussion and problem solving through the forums that adults engage in and for the learning communities that can assist with deeper analysis about the decisions that educator's might be weary of making.
