ABSTRACT

The United Arab Emirates is the confederation of the seven sheikhdoms, or Emirates, of the Lower Gulf, the former Trucial States, which celebrated five years as a union on 2 December 1976.

The total area of the UAE is 33,00 square miles, of which Abu Dhabi occupies 26,000 square miles, Dubai 1,500 square miles, Sharjah 1,000 square miles, Ras al-Khaimah 650 square miles, Fujairah 450 square miles, Umm al Qaiwain 300 square miles and Ajman which is only 100 square miles.
