ABSTRACT

The Sultanate of Oman occupies an area of 120,000 square miles on

the southern littoral of Arabia. It includes a separate territory, the Musandam Peninsula, at the mouth of the Arabian Gulf. Common borders are with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen. The population of the Sultanate is estimated at 1.5 million, and the capital is Muscat, on the Gulf of Oman.
