ABSTRACT

This chapter presents students' responses to the semi-structured interviews for members of the Dream Team and the Archetypal Commoners. The Dream Team were avid readers who enjoyed books and tended to be rated highly by their teachers in terms of their reading skills. This high-achieving group also indicated high levels of enjoyment for five of the six factors considered, scoring the highest of all the groups for competition sport. The Dream Team indicated one of the highest levels of enjoyment for computers and the Internet. The Dream Team indicated a significantly high score for books and reading only marginally below the Clandestine Readers and well above the remaining cluster groups. Participants of the Dream Team scored above the mean for the social aspects of reading. That is, they indicated high levels of enjoyment for activities such as going to the library, reading to their teachers and reading with a friend.
