ABSTRACT

Although automatic eye movement data processing is straightforward for simple target tracking and reasonably easy for scan studies of fixed scenes, it constitutes a problem when the scene is continually changing, as in a TV presentation, an aircraft, a flight simulator, or an automobile. We have addressed this problem with the development of a semi-automatic digitizer system, which is used to manually track the x-y coordinates of those objects of particular interest in a changing TV or mm sequence. When combined with digitized eye movement records, the system provides a record of eye fixation relative to these particular picture elements.
