ABSTRACT

Although there is a voluminous literature reporting the responses of the versional and vergence systems and a lesser one touching on accommodation, very few researchers have been able to monitor the responses of these systems simultaneously in both eyes (Camp bell, 1960; Goodwin & Fender, 1973; St. Cyr & Fender, 1969, a, b, c) and none reported the state of accommodation and eye position simultaneously during eye movements. Because of inadequate instrumentation most conclusions about the interactions of accommodation and eye movements have been reached solely by inference. Recently, we have developed a vision facility capable of stimulating and monitoring both eye position and accomodation simultaneously in both eyes.
