ABSTRACT
When a person mentally transforms a visual stimulus - for example, by imagining it rotating - his pattern of eye fIxations reflects the underlying mental operations (Just & Carpenter, 1976a). In this paper, eye fIxations will be used to trace the internal manipulation of spatial information and to derive a more precise characterization of the underlying psychological processes.
