ABSTRACT

The artist/designers profi led include familiar names: Benjamin Gaulon, Chris Seddon, Clement Valla, Justin Blyth, Kim Asendorf, Misha Shyukin,

Olivier Ratsi, Quayola, Rob Sheridan, Roger de Boeve, Sebastian Onufszak and Tokyo22. This popular coverage, accompanied by a DVD of videos, is focused on the transformation of familiar technical failures into graphics whose distinction from the graphic design of the magazine itself is often blurred: it can be hard to distinguish magazine layout from its glitch contents. Iman Moradi identifi ed the visual features of these failures in Glitch Aesthetics as a discrete collection of morphologies: fragmentation, replication/ repetition, and linearity. 2 The integration of glitch into graphic design as a specifi c visual style places the digital malfunction in a continuum with other types of malfunctions such as misregistered color separations in printing.
