The First Universal Races Congress

In 1911, the first Universal Races Congress was held in London attended by many of the world’s most accomplished anthropologists and sociologists. Rejecting the traditional stereotype of the White Race as biologically distinct and superior to the other races of the world, the researchers at the conference called for a recognition of the fact that differences of geography and environment alone can not explain the differences across the races, and that in the end, “mankind is one.”
