ABSTRACT

The Space Needle was constructed in 1962 for the World's Fair in Seattle and attracted more than two million people at that time. For some, the answer is outer space the so-called new frontier, which America has been in the forefront of exploring, having landed Astronauts on the moon. John F. Kennedy alluded to the importance of the 'frontier' concept in his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles. If the pioneer was the heroic figure created by the nineteenth century American frontier, the Astronaut is the new heroic figure, created for space explorations. If the pioneer was the heroic figure created by the nineteenth century American frontier, the Astronaut is the new heroic figure, created for space explorations. Seattle was, at the time the Space Needle was built, the home of the Boeing aircraft company, which plays an important part in the space exploration research for the American government.
