Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to the entire world. The adjectives with which Jan Morris describes Disneyland, 'uneasy' and 'suffocating', offer us an insight into the ambience of Disneyland that is at odds with the way it describes itself and the way it wants people to think about it. Michael Brody offered the following comments on the opening of Disneyland on July 17, 1955: Disney had taken his children to amusement parts and was disturbed by how dirty and tawdry they were. The chapter deals with anal themes in Disney's cartoons and other work and quotes Richard Schickel who described Disney in The Disney Version as follows, 'There was always something obsessive about Walt Disney's personality.
