ABSTRACT

Fred was carefully crossing the wide shoulders of O’Connell Street wearing his Aran jumper and plaid ‘Paddy’ cap. Though his father had been Czech-Norwegian, Fred was proud to be Irish American. A camera hung from his neck filled with images; his arrival gate at Dublin Airport, ruins at Glendalough, ruins at Slane Hill. There were shots of Tara, and of the Liffey from O’Connell Bridge, and shots of Fred in Galway taken by obliging locals.
