ABSTRACT
The Nottingham Loans Collection has had a varied history since it was first developed in the 1940s. After a period of declining use and several years in storage, it was resurrected in 2004 to respond to enthusiasm in schools and community groups for the opportunity to use ‘real museum artefacts’. The handling collection complements the formal education programmes and community outreach projects run by the museums.
