ABSTRACT

The point-of-sale (POS) and inventory control (IC) system is a program that allows the computer to track and adjust inventory as sales are made. POS is a front-of-house system that primarily deals in sales, tax computing, cash reconciliation, selling security, and customer relationship management (CRM). IC is a back-of-house system that manages inventory from the time it is purchased to receipt. However, the POS/IC system is the responsibility of the store manager. E-commerce is virtually a requirement of being in business. Choosing the best computer hardware and software for new store is one of the most important decisions that will make in organizing and getting the shop up and running. Depending on the size and scope of the operation, POS systems offer a variety of benefits. From the associates operating the registers to the buyer to the customers, this technology takes traditional sales, inventory, purchasing, communication, promotion procedures, and time management to a more efficient level.
