ABSTRACT
We have now traced the course of cultural development from its beginnings a million years ago until the eve of the Agricultural Revolution, less than ten thousand years ago. We have treated the evolution of culture from a number of standpoints—technological, sociological, and ideological—and in its functional and structural aspects. We shall now try to grasp this process in its entirety, to envision primitive culture as a whole.
