ABSTRACT
Ecology Informants are located at points across the map. In order to define the characteristics of the local environment, the ECOZONE classification (ECOMAP
1993) was employed. In California, the ecology is characterised by different longitudinal bands, with the coastal strip quite different from inland areas. Jaccard measures of similarity were employed to calculate ecological similarity matrices between the informants from each CED list.
