ABSTRACT

I do not know what’s on your office wall or on the papers stuck to the edge of your computer monitor, but more likely than not, there are notes you dare not forget. I want to describe the qualities of the relationship between student and college teacher as a set of principles that we dare not forget. These principles are like pre-teaching meditations. They are phrases you can think about in your off moments. Contemplating them in an honest way helps you to adjust your relationship to the students and take the steps to make your classroom a more effective environment for you and your students.
