ABSTRACT

This is not to say that the seminar style denies the instructor the possibility to intervene or participate. On the contrary, the instructor who is not participating only acts as a break on interaction. Effective instructor involvement depends on fitting in, rather than standing out. Most students will acquiesce to the instructor at the slightest hint that the instructor wants to control things. Where one sits, how one speaks, how the roles are assigned, and how the evaluations are handled are the key issues for faculty leadership in seminars.
