ABSTRACT

Treat audio and visual materials as opportunities for collaborative learning. In many disciplines, teaching with audio recordings or films is as old as the technology itself. Who could imagine an appreciation of music class today without students listening to recorded performances by virtuoso musicians? Films are important case materials in the social sciences, history, and media studies. Interactive distance learning classrooms have now brought real-time conferencing and interviewing at a distance to college classrooms, at least in those schools that have invested in this technology.
