ABSTRACT

“The starving of public higher ed means we are now hiring more part-timers, as adjuncts and lecturers. The audit culture associated with neoliberalist ‘reform’ means my students and younger colleagues need thicker vitas, more publications, more grants to climb the rungs of the academic ladder. And most who have attained tenure-track jobs have also had years of postdocs, CRM work, and adjuncting between completion of their Ph.D. and a tenure-track job.”
