ABSTRACT

The purpose of t h i s chapter i s t o discuss i n somewhat broader terms what has been learned from the survey. At the same time, no attempt w i l l be made here t o develop broader or more t h e o r e t i c a l statements about n e o l i t h i c settlement p a t t e r n s . This i s not the appropriate place f o r such discussions. As i n d i c a t e d i n the f i r s t chapter, the main task of the monograph i s t o document the d i s t r i b u t i o n s of neo­ l i t h i c s i t e s and c u l t u r a l remains found by the survey. Furthermore, e f f o r t s have been made i n t h i s volume t o stay w i t h i n the l i n e s of the survey and not t o employ evidence t h a t became a v a i l a b l e a f t e r the f o u r t h f i e l d season at Acconia. Using b a s i c a l l y the evidence from the f i r s t f o u r seasons of the survey, the discussion below w i l l address f i v e s p e c i f i c questions p e r t a i n i n g t o p a t t e r n s of n e o l i t h i c s ettlement.
