“Your boat isn’t right for a river journey,” said Carver, Moonbeam’s husband. “The current in the river is too swift to sail against, so you have to row instead of sail. You’d better take one of our boats. But they need five rowers, for two pairs of oars and the stern oar, to pull against the river current. You’ll have to take Moonbeam and me, too.”
