ABSTRACT
Elaine had collected various mudang paraphernalia, and she was looking for an antique Korean blanket chest to store them in. I went with her to Insadong, the downtown antique area where the old tile-roofed one-story buildings had been left among the skyscrapers of modern Seoul. It’s charming, but all the chests seemed touristy and overpriced.
