ABSTRACT

MANUEL HASSASSIAN: The Palestinian National Movement has been in existence for almost the last hundred years, and has acquired certain characteristics to the point that they have became a phenomenon. When we talk about the Palestinian National Movement in the early 1920s and 1930s, we talk about factional politics of the Palestinians. My thesis has always been that the internal struggle within the Palestinian National Movement was based on clan loyalty and on factional bickering. The turning point, the catalyst, was the rapid Zionist colonization of Palestine.
