ABSTRACT
THERE are two different aspects to the issue of the Holocaust and the State of Israel. The first deals with the relationship between the Holocaust and the establishment of Israel, focusing on the pre-1948 period and what led to the decision to create the Jewish state. The second relates to the influence of the Holocaust on the shaping of Israeli society during the state’s formative years.
