ABSTRACT

DALIA OFER: I would like to make a few major points to place my paper in the context of our discussion, in particular, the importance of the role of the Holocaust, not only its historiography, but also its perception in the awareness of Jews in general, not only Israeli Jews. Although I cannot say that research on the role of the Holocaust is comprehensive, we have learned so far that this is a formative event in the memory of the Jewish people and of Israeli Jews. As time goes by, it becomes even more important in Western civilization.
