ABSTRACT
The hearths tended to be similar in size and shape. The author was in South Korea for a month on a grant from the Academy for Korean Studies. To author's eyes this was a Korean Neolithic excavation. From there it was a short walk towards the sea to Osanni, where Professor Im Hyo-jai and his crew from Seoul National University were digging. The west coast pottery clearly had affinities with pottery and other objects in northeastern China, whereas the east coast tended towards pottery of Japan. The people of Bird Mountain Village are as physically like the Ainu, who are called Europoid'. Flyingbird was named for Clara, who in her first dream or vision flew into the Neolithic birthing house at the time of her birth. The problem was that Flyingbird and Big Bear didn't want to share their house with Tigertail. Eventually they do kill a tiger and take the skin back to Tigertail's village.
