ABSTRACT

Ninety-four percent of stores in the survey provided data on their projected and actual sales for FY2013. Most stores over-estimated their projected sales. Just over 10% of stores expected sales to decrease slightly or significantly in 2013, but almost 30% (27.8%) of stores reported some decrease in sales. A larger percentage of stores (21.5%) expected sales to remain flat in 2013 compared to those that actually reported the same level of sales (14.4%) for the year. Almost half (48.2%) of stores expected a slight increase in sales, while 20% less actually saw that slight increase (28.2%). Only stores in the top category underestimated sales performance. More specifically, just over 20% of stores projected sales would increase significantly, while almost 30% reported this for 2013.
