ABSTRACT

The Museum of Art and Archaeology at the University of Missouri, Columbia, is the third largest art museum in the state and the only such facility in central Missouri. Its collection of approximately 8,000 objects covers almost the entire range of the history of art, with holdings in ancient Mediterranean art and archaeology, paintings, prints and drawings from the early Renaissance to the present, and collections of African, Pre-Columbian, Oceanic, Far Eastern and South Asian art. The museum is located on the second floor of Pickard Hall, a newly renovated Victorian classroom building, which also houses the UMC Department of Art History and Archaeology. The educational staff consists of a half time education coordinator and his assistant, and there is a modest budget to fund education programs.
