ABSTRACT

In this paper we want to address the thorny question of the Later Bronze Age and Iron Age use of flint. We realise that this is a contentious area for debate and that many lithic specialists axe sceptical of the notion of regular, postMiddle Bronze Age, utilisation of flint and other lithic resources. Indeed, one of the present authors (RY) was very wary of accepting the possibility of such a phenomenon until some recent work on lithic material in the east Midlands of England made him re-evaluate his position. Other workers, though, have made their opposition to the concept quite explicit.
