ABSTRACT

When you are a mother you are someone, even if it’s a bad mom, like the “OctoMom.” Most daytime network television caters to mothers. But what happens, when you’ve reached that certain, delicate age after your mid-30s and before menopause, if you’re not a mother? In terms of conversations in everyday situations, it can lead to an ontological state of nullification, of nonbeing: in short, if you are a woman, not being a mother can be a real conversation killer.
