ABSTRACT

Who would ever have thought that North Dakota could be home to people from all over the world? Certainly not I. I grew up in the diversity capitol of the world—New York City. So upon moving to Fargo in 2002 I was curious to explore what diversity looked like in a city that was outwardly so homogeneous in a Northern European way. An article in the local paper led me to Cardinal IG—a window factory in Fargo—where I met, interviewed, and photographed people from many different countries. I was amazed that circumstances and coincidence had landed all these people in the same place.
