ABSTRACT

Although we live in a world of bureaucratic morass that seemingly controls aid and assistance programs, as well as a sea of checklists and administrative overhead that don’t seem to help feed a single person or build a single

dwelling, there is certain logic to such routines in both preparation and deploy-

ment. In fact, systematically working through what often are tedious steps in

planning for training and equipping for deployment can help a country team

member “get into the game,” to become more organizationally sound and more

emotionally and mentally prepared for the challenges of an overseas mission.
