ABSTRACT

Writing and producing shots: a love story was a necessary step as a person and artist to reconcile my relationship with alcohol as it pertained to myself as well as to my father. Shots: a love story demonstrates reality autoethnodramatic writing. The initial production was staged in an extremely collaborative environment. The emotions were still raw and author found it necessary to create a family of artists that made me feel secure and comfortable. Subsequent productions, which included a performance at The New York International Fringe Festival in 2008, were demonstrations of contained chaos. The end product, while somewhat effective, was nothing more than a carnal scream of pain and fear. It became evident that future productions would require me to act solely as director rather than collaborator and cast member. He decided to stage chaotic disease via an aesthetic that was angular, highly stylized, controlled, militaristic, and oppressive.
