ABSTRACT

Most archaeologists who dream of making a documentary about one of their archaeology projects probably envision that program being broadcast on a leading television channel. However, if one has a strong desire for a theatrical release for their documentary, one may be able to find an independent movie theater and negotiate a deal with the owner. Distributors like to see bonus selections added onto a DVD documentary. These serve to complement the documentary feature. Netflix is a subscription-based rental service that delivers movies, documentaries, and television shows on DVD, Blu-ray, and Internet streaming. As the replication of DVDs is being executed, the production team will decide on a retail price for the archaeology documentary DVD. The organization offers seminars and other programs, publishes an informative magazine on documentaries and documentary filmmaking, and also hosts an annual awards event called the International Documentary Association (IDA) Awards.
