ABSTRACT

Account executives mediate between the companies hiring the advertising agency and the agency and are supposed to look after the interests of both the clients and the agency. Large corporations that hire advertising agencies usually have their own advertising departments, responsible for selecting advertising agencies, and one of the most important tasks of account executives is to do what they can to satisfy the executives in the corporate advertising divisions. Some cynics in the industry, generally on the creative side of agencies, suggest that what account executives (whatever their title) do best is take people to lunch.
