Left at the War The Battle of Narratives on Two Fronts: the Global War on Terror and the Right-Wing War on Obama’s America
One of the charges made against liberals by conservatives and extremists on the right is that we are soft on war. And one of the great disappointments on the left about the new “liberal” Obama administration is the continuation, and expansion, of the global war on terror in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Yemen. Perhaps even Iran is on the horizon. Who knows? For a man who as senator was brave enough to speak out against the invasion of Iraq, and who campaigned for the presidency on a “bring the troops home by the end of 2009” platform, his actions since taking the oath of office have seemed surprisingly at odds with our hopes.
