ABSTRACT

During the Yayoi period (approximately fifth century BC to third century AD) many objects and advanced technologies were brought from the Asian continent and introduced to the Japanese islands. These sometimes arrived in conjunction with migrations from the Korean peninsula and played a significant part in the many changes to the daily lives of the people of that time. However, while many of these imports were used as prestige items, it seems that not all were accepted by Yayoi society (Sahara 1975).
