ABSTRACT

Long-distance interaction is a universally researched phenomenon in archaeology, and it is important to reveal its role in human society. In this chapter, interaction between Yayoi society and societies separated by ocean from the Yayoi (namely, the Korean peninsula, China, and the Okinawa Islands) shall be dealt with to renew the understanding of sociocultural changes that occurred during the Yayoi period (1000 BC-AD 250). This study also intends to contribute to the research of long-distance interaction (Figure 2.1).
