ABSTRACT
This chapter is dedicated to three men now deceased. The first is the late historian Carl Becker, whose The Heavenly City of the Eighteenth-Century Philosophers, published over sixty years ago. The chapter is also dedicated to the urban sociologist, evaluator, and social scientist Scott Greer, who made a lasting impression on me as a twenty-two year-old graduate student in his logic of inquiry class at Northwestern University. Finally, it is dedicated to the late Morehouse theologian and sociologist of the future Howard Thurman. In the 1950s, it was Thurman's prophetic portrayals of a multicultural America and world that inspired the futuristic multicultural societal visions of a Morehouse sociology major named Martin Luther King Jr. The chapter focuses on the worlds and realities created and transformed by people of color in a society and globe that are becoming increasingly colorized in terms of demographics, power, and authority.
