ABSTRACT

How can an examination of multiple technologies be useful? After all, it is difficult enough to master the necessary literature on one technology, how can a more superficial knowledge of several be at all useful? One might say the same about the process of archaeology in general-how can one person evaluate and weave together the information from a team of specialists? The answer is that we must do so, to have a well-rounded picture of the past. This is the case whether comparing technologies based on material or end-product type, or technologies focused on different processes or functions.
