Research Teams and Training in Applied Ethnographic Research |
Many applied field research projects these days are carried out through partnerships of international NGOs, academic researchers, and/or government agencies with local NGO and/or other local organizations. e structures of research teams depend on many factors, including the scope and duration of the projects. With short-term projects, lasting only a few weeks, “rapid data gathering” may only be possible through collaboration with a local organization that has effective communitybased personnel. In such cases, at least some of the field researchers are recruited on short-term or medium-term contract by local NGOs. is is particularly true in some HIV/AIDS research projects, as well as various other types of short-term research in both developing and developed countries.
